A joint research paper by Dr. Reza Mahouzi, faculty member at the Institute for Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS), and Hassan Hasanzadeh, a Ph.D. candidate in Cultural Policy at the same institute, was presented at the International Seminar on Islam & Ummah Sustainability (SIDKUN 2026) in Malaysia.
The paper, titled “Six Foundations for Reviving the Authentic Iranian-Islamic Civilization: With Emphasis on the Thought of Abolhassan Foroughi,” was authored by Dr. Mahouzi and Hasanzadeh. Its presentation at this international forum provided a significant opportunity to discuss perspectives on Islamic intellectual and civilizational heritage, as well as the potential for revitalizing Iranian-Islamic civilization.
SIDKUN 2026 was held on October 11–12, 2026, in Kangar, the capital of Perlis state, Malaysia. Hosted by the School of Languages, Civilization, and Philosophy at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), the conference focused on themes including Islamic thought, civilization, Quranic discourse, education, and the sustainability of Muslim societies.
The event attracted distinguished scholars, including Professor Osman Bakar, Rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and a laureate of the Farabi International Award. Professor Bakar delivered a keynote address at the opening ceremony, underscoring the critical importance of academic and civilizational discourse within the Muslim world.
This presentation highlights the ongoing research efforts of the Institute for Social and Cultural Studies in the fields of cultural studies, Islamic thought, and civilizational issues. It further serves to strengthen the presence of ISCS researchers in the global academic community and fosters international collaboration between universities and research centers.
